🌟 Editor's Note

There were a lot of news coming out from the government’s side. From Bitcoin reserves to a blockchain bill. This is incredibly beneficial because it moves the discussion about blockchain on a national level — now more people are discussing and asking what blockchain and Bitcoin are.

The only issue, however, is that once you add politics in any topic, a barrage of commenters will descend in your Facebook page, either to support or criticize the politician or the government initiative.

As a friend mentioned, it is now almost impossible to have a civilized conversation about politics online these days…

Anyway, that’s a topic for next time! For now, let’s finally dive in.

🧠 Top Story This Week

💡 Senator Bam Aquino Files Bill To Use Blockchain For Government Records

With the aim of fighting corruption in the country and promoting transparency, Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV announced during the Manila Tech Summit, held on August 27, 2025, that he will file a bill in the coming weeks seeking to place the Philippine government’s budget and financial transactions on a blockchain platform.

He announced the filing of this bill today.

Aquino explained that the proposal aims to allow citizens to monitor government expenditures directly on a blockchain, ensuring that every peso is accounted for.

He noted that if implemented, the Philippines could become the first nation to place its entire budget on-chain.

“No one is crazy enough to put their transactions on blockchain, where every single step of the way will be logged and transparent to every single citizen. But we want to start.”
